America’s Le Mans Opens for Fans

According to Sebring International Raceway: “A record number of spectators streamed into Sebring International Raceway early this morning as gates opened for Saturday’s 58th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida. Several hundred motorhomes and campers had been waiting in line for over two weeks in anticipation of Wednesday morning’s opening. Sebring International Raceway staff welcomed the record number of guests as they rushed to their favorite camping and viewing spots around the famous 3.7-mile road course.

“This is the largest number of fans ever to enter the raceway this early,” stated Sebring President and General Manager Tres Stephenson. “We are expecting a record turn-out over the next four days.”

A total of 33 cars are expected to take the green flag at 10:30 am on Saturday for the legendary sports car endurance race, often called “America’s Le Mans.” Defending 24 Hours of Le Mans champion Peugeot will battle Aston Martin for the overall win, with Porsche, Mazda Lola and Honda battling in the LMP2 class. The GT category at Sebring features an epic battle between Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, BMW and Ford. Six supporting events and numerous fan-friendly activities are on the schedule. With perfect weather predicted, Sebring offers race fans a truly memorable experience.”
